Colorado Springs Customers Frustrated With Service Issues With Waste Connections, Replies District Manager

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – We’re getting answers for thousands of people struggling with weeks of garbage piling up at their homes in Colorado Springs.

Many of our 11 News viewers started contacting us with frustrations over Waste Connections, which recently acquired Springs Waste.

A representative from Waste Connections thinks he knows what the problem is and he has a temporary solution to try and help frustrated customers. The manager who spoke to us said people needed to take specific steps to switch to their new billing system, but many did not. Today, around 8,000 customers have overdue accounts, so garbage collection is ignored.

Manager Paul Brieterman explained that starting June 21, the company will go ahead and pick up all the trash from all customers that week to provide some relief.

“We don’t want any health or safety risks or anything like that, so we’re going to take everyone by giving a little more time to be able to reach out and settle your account,” explained the director of Breiterman district.

Breiterman says customers will still need to pass their documents. He also admits that their phone system was bombed. Even though they’ve added staff to handle calls, Brieterman says they just can’t keep up. There was information posted and emailed to customers to notify them of the changes, but some people may have missed the notice.

In the meantime, customers are encouraged to keep trying their number to settle your new billing agreement, or you can email them for a quick response.

Brieterman recommends that customers put “billing” in the title if they send an email.
